University of Santiago de Compostela (USC)
The University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) is a Spanish public institution of higher education, was founded in 1495. At present USC includes 30 centres, nearly 80 departments and more than 60 degrees, apart from numerous installations such as research institutes and a staff of 3,000 (> 2000 are professors and researches). The Laboratory of the participant research group is located at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Santiago de Compostela Spain, and it is an institution with a long history in the field of analytical research, and it is fully equipped with all necessary analytical instrumentaion for the execution of the tasks of the proposed project.
Main tasks
USC will be the coordinator of the project and in particular the coordinator of the WP3 (Characterization of new extracts), WP6 (Analysis of consumer behaviour), WP7 (WP7 Creation of new business models for the local Mediterranean agro-food value chain) and WP9 (Project management). The main research activities carried out by this participant will be related to the chemical characterization of bioactive ingredients and evaluation of their stability on the functional foods. Also, the main role of USC will be related to coordination of the task dedicated to the consumer behaviour analysis, dissemination activities and project management.
