ProdAl scarl (ProdAl)

Consortium ProdAl is a technology transfer center based at the University of Salerno and it is one of the Research Laboratories accredited by the Italian Ministry of Higher Education and Research, from 2010. ProdAl is a highly original institution, representing the first experience in Italy of linking between public research institutions in the agro-food field located in Campania Region (Italy), and a unique big laboratory for research and development in the service of enterprises.

The skilled technical and scientific expertise of its researchers covers a wide range of areas (agriculture, animal breeding, engineering, food technology, biology, chemistry, economics, etc.), allowing to deal with various problems related to the characterization and processing of different plant and animal-based matrices for either extraction and recovery of valuable compounds or for food preservation, as well as sustainability of food and biotechnological processes. ProdAl has a consolidated experience in applied research in collaboration with industrial partners and technology transfer management from research environment to industrial sites.

 

Main tasks
ProdAL will be the coordinator of the WP5 (Assessment of Environmental Aspects). It will play a crucial role in the frame of the extraction, purification, and stabilization of pigments and bioactive compounds with antimicrobial properties from agro-food residues (WP2) to be used for improving quality and extending the shelf-life of fruits produced by the FS partner, and consumer behaviour.
